Overview

The Opportunity

As BIM Manager, you will serve as the firm’s primary authority on Building Information Modeling standards, workflows, and technology. This role connects design intent with digital execution by helping architecture and engineering teams work in a coordinated, efficient, and standards-compliant BIM environment. The BIM Manager reports to firm leadership and works closely with project managers, discipline leads, and IT to support a 50-100-person organization delivering projects across multiple sectors.

You will be responsible for firm-wide BIM governance, project-level BIM support, technology adoption, staff training, and model quality control. The role is intended to standardize how BIM is used across disciplines while helping project teams deliver coordinated, compliant, and efficient models.

Responsibilities

Your Key Responsibilities

 

Standards & Governance

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce firm-wide BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), modeling standards, and Revit template libraries.
  • Establish and manage content libraries including Revit families, shared parameters, title blocks, and project browser templates.
  • Define and govern model file naming conventions, folder structures, and data handover requirements aligned with client, project-specific, and LOD standards.
  • Facilitate the BIM group and coordinate with discipline BIM leaders to ensure all disciplines follow firm-wide BIM standards.
  • Create user documentation, workflow guides, and best practice resources for internal use.

Project Support

  • Serve as a BIM consultant on active projects, providing guidance on model coordination, clash detection, and design delivery workflows.
  • Act as the project administrator for setting up projects in Forma or on the network drive.
  • Responsible for assigning project roles and responsibilities for Forma projects.
  • Lead or facilitate BIM coordination meetings using Forma, managing clash detection, issue tracking, and model federation across multiple disciplines and consultants.
  • Support project teams in setting up Revit worksharing environments, cloud-based collaboration, and linked model strategies.

Technology & Software

  • Serve as the firm’s subject matter expert on Autodesk AEC Collection tools, including Forma, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Dynamo, and Bluebeam.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging Autodesk tools and third-party integrations.
  • Work with IT to manage Autodesk licensing, software deployments, and version upgrade cycles.
  • Work with WIIL group for software testing and rollout.

Training & Adoption

  • Design and deliver onboarding and ongoing BIM training programs for staff at all experience levels.
  • Create user documentation, workflow guides, and videos for internal use.
  • Champion a culture of BIM literacy and continuous improvement across design and technical staff. 

Quality Control

  • Implement and manage model auditing and QA/QC processes using approved BIM review and coordination tools.
  • Review project models at key milestones for compliance with firm standards, coordination quality, and deliverable readiness.
  • Ensure staff and software meet Walbridge’s security protocols per project/owner requirements.
  • Facilitate the company’s continuous improvement workflows in accordance with Lean design concepts such as PDCA (Plan Do Check Adjust).

Qualifications

To qualify, you must have

  • 8+ years of experience in an AEC environment with demonstrated BIM leadership responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent education and professional experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit (architectural and/or MEP/structural workflows).
  • Hands-on experience as project administrator with Forma, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or BIM 360.
  • Experience with BIM Execution Plan, Clash detection set-up and management.
  • Working knowledge of IFC, COBie, and open BIM data standards.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery phases from SD through CA.
  • Experience creating and delivering verbal and written training materials and advocating for BIM adoption at all levels of the organization.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience using AI tools and software integrations, including MCP-based workflows.
  • Experience with Dynamo scripting for workflow automation.
  • Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit or related platform.
  • Familiarity with national CAD standards, BIM Forum LOD guidance, and ISO 19650 information management frameworks.
  • Experience managing BIM on data center, light industrial, and government projects.
