Overview

Carlson Design Group is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, New Business Development (NBD) Associate to be a part of our expanding business. The NBD Associate must be a goal orientated, self-starter who will support the sales efforts to achieve aggressive growth targets established by senior management

 

Carlson’s market focus is Mission Critical, Financial Services, Light Industrial, Defense, and Commercial.

Responsibilities

Our business development professionals have four primary responsibilities:

  • Understand the company’s short term and long-range goals and contribute to validating and refining the objectives.
  • Develop sales goals and ensure they are met.
  • Identify and qualify new sales opportunities, represent the company in soliciting services.
  • Establish new business relationships and maintain relationships with existing clients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Research organizations and individuals to identify new leads.
  • Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities.
  • Research the needs of target companies and identify decision makers for design firm selection and purchasing.
  • Contact potential clients via email, social media or phone to establish rapport and set up meetings.
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events.

Additionally:

  • Prepare sales presentations.
  • Maintain contact with clients to inform them about new developments in the company and identify new opportunities.
  • Support overall corporate business development goals in identified market sectors.
  • Develop thorough understanding of client’s needs and procurement strategy.
  • Prepare and execute business development action plans for specific targets.
  • Ensure accuracy of information CRM (Client Relationship Management) software.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, presentations and brochure materials.
  • Provide advice, liaison, planning, etc. to prospective and current clients.
  • Assist management with sales, estimating and final close.
  • Liaison with other personnel throughout the Company to assure that the overall Carlson/Walbridge message and identity is consistent across the Enterprise.
  • Entertain, host and coordinate social events with key clients during working hours, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

To be an effective business development associate at Carlson Design Group, an individual must have the following skills:

  • BS/BA in business administration, sales or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience preferably with a design firm.
  • Socially adept with the ability to build rapport with varying audiences.
  • Prospecting skills including sales planning, professionalism, negotiating skills and time management.
  • Presentation skills and strong communication and IT fluency.
  • Experience as a business development manager or sales manager is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce).
