Overview

The Lean Specialist will bolster the passion and purpose of the Walbridge Innovation & Improvement Leadership (WIIL) department by assisting with innovating and improving all areas of the Walbridge Enterprise to better serve our customers and enrich the employee work experience. Candidates must have the ability to:

This individual coordinates various functions of the Lean Department that support seamless interactions of new initiatives and revisions to current programs as well as the Walbridge’s Lean Operating System. The Lean Specialist is responsible for assisting with the collection and organization of data for detailed analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Corporate Quality Lean & Innovation Director in maintaining Walbridge’s Lean Operating System
  • Participate in validating various operational Lean practices and tools
    • Assist with Lean Audits
    • A3 Thinking for new lean ideas and tools
  • Support corporate quality lean & innovation initiatives and process improvement/design efforts
  • Foster a collaborative environment where field experience bridges the gap between planning and execution
  • Facilitate various problem-solving methods to find practical solutions
  • Translate field experience into practical Lean implementation strategies
  • Identify and eliminate waste from construction processes
  • Train and coach field teams on applying Lean tools and methodologies, leveraging field experience to quickly gain buy in
  • Assist with evaluating and implementing construction technology
  • Attend various Lean Construction organization events (LCI, CURT)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience including construction experience such as Project Engineer or Superintendent demonstrating successful project delivery
  • Proven understanding and application of Lean principles and practices in construction
  • Expertise in Lean planning tools and methodologies (e.g., LPS, Target Value Delivery)
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and data management skills, with a focus on field-derived metrics
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all project levels
